Painting analysis:

In this paint, the geographer is penetrating onto his study of geography and drawing a map with a bow compass. The brightest part of this paint is the map on the table, maps on the floor, the see chart on the wall, and the globe and several books in the Cabernet, also his face and the window.

The paint suggest that the light actually only reflect on the things which in the geographer’s cognitive dome of his profession.

The artiest might want to suggest that the light represents the fact, truth or knowledge and the geographer is looking out side. So the inside can be represented as the place he knows and the outside represents places that he hasn’t discovered, and the light is directing him to find the knowledge and the truth and to help him to hunting the treasure of knowledge.

As it is the connection between the outside and inside, as it is the connection between ignorance and erudition

So my narrative comes up with the idea of path:

Truth has been discovered on the road, light coming down here to direct the scholar and lead him to the path

The narrative inspired me to design serials of rooms that convey the idea of truth finding or knowledge hunting, form the very beginning of human civilization till the present. Thus I designed 3 rooms each of them represents one typical period of time of civilization development, the primitive cave liked room, the medieval styled room and finally the room represent the modernism theme. They are being sited in a skyscraper, where the lowest level is the cave room, and in the middle is the medieval style room, and at the very top is the modern room. Different windows have been designed to suit different rooms. Three rooms have been connected by stairs.

The Rise of the levels also implied the development of civilization has been taken into higher levels.

The theme of my design is about Pathway, so the interesting idea is about how you find the stair to go up to the next level. Windows has been placed in propose to create a sense of directing by lighting,
